Kendrick Lamar Targets Drake in Searing Diss Track Euphoria

Drake and Kendrick Lamar, two of the biggest names in hip-hop, are at odds even more now that Lamar has released “Euphoria,” a scathing diss track specifically directed at the Canadian rapper. Drake’s most recent “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle” are followed by this counterpunch.

In “Euphoria,” Kendrick Lamar casts doubt on Drake’s legitimacy as a legitimate rap artist, charging him with deceit and deceptive business practices.

He rhymes: “You, not a rap artist, you a scam artist with the hopes of being accepted / Tommy Hilfiger stood out, but Fubu had never been your collection.”

The six-minute song also takes aim at Drake’s contentious usage of artificial intelligence (AI) to create Tupac Shakur’s vocals on “Taylor Made Freestyle,” a decision that angered Shakur’s family. “On God, I’m willing to double the pay / I would rather do that than let a Canadian n—a make Pac turn in his grave,” spits Lamar. “Someone had told me that you got a ring.”

Lamar explains his intentions halfway through the song, saying, “This ain’t been ’bout critics, not about gimmicks, not about who the greatest / It’s always been about love and hate, now let me say I’m the biggest hater.”

More than a month has passed since Lamar’s initial criticism of Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” started the fight. Now, “Euphoria” is here.  Drake’s response included the songs “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the latter of which was taken down from social media following threats of legal action from Shakur’s estate.
