Bill Belichick Steals the Show at Tom Brady's Netflix Roast

Even after their widely reported falling out, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick unexpectedly got back together for the Netflix special “The Greatest Roast of All Time.” The event, which was hosted by Kevin Hart, included the customary jokes about Brady’s private life and professional scandals, but the night’s high point was soon made by Belichick’s surprising arrival and witty remarks.

Hart didn’t take long to address the topic of serious concern: Brady’s exit from the Patriots and his subsequent Super Bowl victory with Tampa Bay. “Holy shit! You left Mac Jones with Bill Belichick?” he joked.

While celebrities such as Jeff Ross, Nikki Glaser, Ben Affleck, Kim Kardashian, Drew Bledsoe, and Will Ferrell traded jabs (some more contentious than others), the most people responded to Belichick’s participation, which was preceded by a surprise appearance by Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy.

Not to be mistaken with the roast of Bill Belichick on the 10-part Apple TV series, the normally stoic coach joked about his media image and the recent negative Patriots dynasty documentary.

“Wonder why they invited me?” he joked, making fun of his reputation for pressuring Brady. He even made fun of Gronkowski’s antics on Fox NFL Sunday.

There were other uncomfortable times during the evening, including as when Kim Kardashian entered to jeers and when Jeff Ross joked inappropriately about the Boston Marathon bombing and Brady’s rumored infidelity. Brady was clearly incensed by a particularly biting joke that was made about the Robert Kraft massage parlor controversy.

Brady responded to his opponents and even made a lighthearted jab at Belichick’s post-Brady Super Bowl record as the roast came to a close.
